Ajuga is an aggressively spreading groundcover perennial for a shaded or part-shade area. Lavender flowers in spring. Foliage with burgundy highlights. Ajuga is deer and rabbit resistant, making it especially useful in parts of the yard where grass doesn't grow under the shade of trees. Performs best if watered during hot, dry periods. Grows about 4" tall. Zone 4.
Ajuga spreads quickly. That's good if you have a large shaded area where it's hard to get anything to grow. It can, however, be hard to control in smaller areas.
