Monarda. People love Bee Balm for its bright flowers. So do pollinators! Butterflies and other pollinators find it irresistible. Most Bee Balm varieties grow large--larger than what most people want. This one is different. "Balmy Purple" is a dwarf variety growing about 12" tall and wide, a perfect choice for smaller gardens.
Vibrant reddish-purple flowers over a long flowering season in summer. Deadhead regularly for repeat bloom. Does best with consistent moisture, though will tolerate drying out once established.
Wonderfully aromatic, minty-scented foliage. Zone 4.
