Sometimes you need a tree that grows tall and stays narrow. The columnar ginkgo is a solution. We just love the ginkgo tree. It is an ancient species that has been around since time of the dinosaurs. Ginkgos have distinctive, fan-shaped leaves. What's most memorable about the ginkgo is the fall color. The leaves turn an amazing golden yellow in fall. This color persists for weeks, before dropping to form a golden carpet around the tree. It's one of our favorite parts of autumn. This columnar variety grows 30' or more tall and about 10' wide (and can be kept narrower with pruning). It tolerates clay soil and is deer resistant. Full sun. This is a male variety that does not produce fruit.
